They called her the ugly gray mutt
She was the ugly gray mutt
who lived in a hole. She was no longer wanted and had nowhere to go. Her family had moved and they left her behind to fend for herself which was very unkind. She crawled under the trailer that she once called her home and dug a big hole where she lived all alone. Some folks in the trailer park gave her some food though they had barely enough to feed their own brood. Someone gave her a sweater when the weather turned cold and she was so very grateful even though it was old. She longed for the day when a rescuer would come and see what a great pet she would make for someone. The day finally came when two heroes arrived and saved little Gracie from a life so deprived. They put an ad in the paper: "Can you help this dog please? She's a sweet little angel who is covered in fleas." I was reading the paper when their ad caught my eye: "Can you help this dog please?" I knew I should try. Now the ugly gray mutt who once lived in a hole has a shiny gray coat and a heaping food bowl. She's got someone who loves her who won't let her down. And she wears a big smile where there once was a frown. |
